Surprise Surprise

Recently one of my lovely sisterfriends had turned 18 and since she didn't have anything 'big' planned to celebrate this, so we held her a surprise Star-Wars themed party. Note this, she hates surprises ..with a passion but I think this one was an exception. However she loves Star Wars. It was a nice, simple and intimate celebration with her family, close friends from youth and church. Where we fellowshipped over food, sat around the bonfire roasting marshmallows, talking and sharing special moments that we had with the birthday girl. Made me wish I had just celebrated my 18th this way but nonetheless, any celebration of life is still a celebration!

When we make the effort to recognise and acknowledge the existence of someone in our lives, it contributes to their self-worth and self-perception. And that is what I think we need to improve on. It's not necessarily buying things and being materialistic about it. It's about giving something beyond material. The greatest thing we can give a person today is our time. And boy was this surprise worth the time! So I encourage you to answer this question for yourself, who is in your life that you need to give more recognition to? Once you have that person in mind, give them your time.
